Last spring, we caught up with Eddie Borgo in his New York studio to check out his legendary inspiration boards and get to know the man behind the infamous cone bracelets that have taken the accessory world by storm. We were able to get a sneak peek at the upcoming Fall Collection and are so excited to welcome Eddie to Canada to officially launch the pieces at Holts!
For fall 2012, Borgo’s designs were inspired by New York’s hidden underground. All of the styles reflect the abandoned steam tunnels, sewer lines, subway systems, pipe grids, and drain networks that suggest an underworld below the concrete streets of New York. Inspired by the subterranean photographs of Steve Duncan, and the French film ‘La Cite Des Enfantes Perdus’, Borgo created bolted designs that mimic the many surfaces of the city. “Grates, sewage pipes, joint connectors, and coils may be familiar to our eyes but there’s a way to make these sculptural things that are such a part of our daily lives beautiful,” says Borgo.
Eddie Borgo will be visiting our Bloor Street location on Friday September 7th from 1–5 PM to showcase the collection, along with a selection of special trunk show pieces available only until Sunday.
