In just a few short years, in-demand stylist turned shoe designer Tabitha Simmons has captivated shoe lovers with her whimsical feminine designs. Launching her eponymous line in 2009, Simmons was no stranger to the biz. Working as a reputable stylist for Vogue and styling runway shows for Alexander McQueen, Calvin Klein and Dolce & Gabbana, she had plenty of time to hone her craft and develop what she calls “a massive passion for shoes”. The high-end footwear is all handmade in Italy using the finest hand-embroidered silks giving them a distinctly girly feel. But it’s not only her opulent footwear collection that has people enamored by the designer—recent accolades include the BFA’s Emerging Talent Accessories Award and a CFDA nomination for the Swarovski Award for Accessory Design—it’s her super stylish life that she balances with relative ease. Take the fabulous five story townhouse in Chelsea that she shares with her husband, photographer Craig McDean, and her two sons, that was recently featured in Vogue. Holt Renfrew had the chance to sit down with the designer while she was in Toronto for the first time, and it was easy to see why this woman gets what women want and we can’t wait to see more of it.
