We chatted with the skincare guru to find out his tips on how to stay gorgeous wherever the summer may take you.
Too much sun can be a bad thing. What are the go-to products that can help us fake a tan for the summer?
Everybody loves a little colour; a tan is our way of visually welcoming summer! This spring, we are excited to have launched a new self-tanner that creates a beautiful natural-looking and luminous tan without exposing yourself to harmful UV rays. Self Tanning Hydrating Facial Skin Care, $145.
Any tips for using the self-tanner?
You should always use a gentle exfoliate. Self-tanners virtually paint the top layers of your skin—which is essentially just dead skin cells. These cells are usually uneven and can result in patchy self-tanner applications. To ensure a smooth application, we recommend exfoliating a couple times a week to keep your self-tanner smooth and even throughout the summer. Buff and Wash facial gel, $120.
Another thing to remember is that you don’t need to massage the self-tanners into the skin. They are not really creams to be absorbed; they should just sit on the surface on the skin. So the less we massage it, the better off we are. You also want to specifically avoid applying too much of the product on your knees, elbows, heels, or knuckles—because that will give you away!
If you do want to go the natural route, what sun tan lotion would you recommend?
Without the sun we all would die, so a little sun worshipping won’t hurt, you just need the right protection. That’s why we also launched Sunleÿa. It’s a beautiful SPF 15 cream that also has anti-aging ingredients and helps to neutralize the damaging effects of free radicals in the skin. Rich moisturizers and creams can be too heavy for the summer months, do you recommend switching moisturizers for the warmer weather?
Absolutely! A lot of people feel more comfortable having two sets of moisturizers to alternate by season based on your skins needs. In the summer, we usually tend to stay out a little more in the sun, and this can dehydrate your skin. Do you recommend using a cream or moisturizer that has SPF in it every day?
Yes, we have a unique product called ‘All Day All Year’ that is perfect for every one of all ages. It acts like a bubble and filters 90% of harmful rays to protect the skin from outside aggressors for up to 8 consecutive hours.
